Dear DaniqueNijsen
Thank you for providing constructive feedback. I appreciate you bringing the incident at reception to my attention. Trust I've shared your comments with our Front Office Manager, she assures me this must've been a rare occasion and usually our team is courteous and polite. Glad you enjoyed the comfort of our guestroom. Sorry to learn you were misinformed about our pool closure. The complimentary shuttle services is available Monday thru Saturday only during the morning hours. I'm disappointed you did not walk towards Waterfront Navy Yard neighborhood and perhaps on your next visit you will notice there's a ton of new restaurants; Osteria Morini, Chloe, Whaley's, RASA, CIRCA, to name a few. Navy Yard is 8-10 minute walk from our hotel. In the opposite direction there's the Wharf district which is buzzing with hip and trendy bars and restaurants there are some great eateries; hot-tables and a wide variety of specialty restaurants. You will be pleasantly surprised, there's over 30 new restaurants and bars all within 15 minutes walk in secure surroundings like most gateway cities one still has to remain vigilant.
We look forward to welcome you back in the not too distant future.
Truly
Ken Helmy
Hotel employee at check-in was friendly, you were happy to help. At check out a younger lady with a man, didn't ask how our experience at the hotel was. We were waiting for a taxi, together they were laughing very loudly and talking softly. It seemed like it was about us, not pleasant. The hotel is clean, king size bed. Hotel room no comments for that. Upon arrival (7 September), she said that the swimming pool would be closed tomorrow (8 September) due to seasonal closure. However, the next day it was fortunately open, just a warning sign that the deductible is because there was no longer a lifeguard. Fortunately a relief because we felt like cooling down after a long day. The shuttle bus was not possible on Sundays. This was a disappointment for us at that time. However, it was only a 15-minute walk to the capitol. Back away from White House walk back an hour. We walked the entire park (most high points) in three hours. So it's a good walk. Well for us to do with a rest break. Unfortunately not many restaurants near the hotel. If you want to go to a good restaurant you have to be back before dark, because on that side the streets are not safe (towards the park). We have eaten at shake shack, this was the tastiest fries and burger ever !! However, second day with five guys. So a disappointment that there are only fast food restaurants in the area. The hotel looks less on the outside, but very nicely renovated on the inside.
