Once again another great getaway. Really sad to see the chocolate sea.( seaweed) we are ocean people and the grand has the best when it does not stink so bad you can’t even sit at the beach and enjoy. With that said it is not the fault of the grand and if we had to be anywhere where this is happening the grand is the best place to be.
Ivan our concierge made our trip, Ivan was amazing and made sure we knew we are still welcome. I could do a whole review on the all the great things Ivan brings to the Grand. Aaron a star fríend is an amazing addition the the Grand. Always excited to see Aaron again at the shows. So wonderful to get that hug from Mirna she is so nice. Elizabeth at the pool went out of her way to bring me something I admired on her, on her day off, talk about above and beyond. Delfino in the buffet still giving amazing service. Alajandro and Luigi at the Rhapsody will make your trip so fun,the talent that goes into the drinks they make is amazing. The main buildings in the hotel and restaurants are very warm. Didn’t effect us until a few days in when we had gotten more exposure to the sun. Fist time experiencing this hope it’s not permanent. Humberto at the pool bar is a really great bartender we noticed his absence on his day off. I will say that I was leaving my jewelry out and phone and laptop just laying out and not one thing was ever missing. Guadalupe was our housekeeper and I am so grateful because leaving expensive items out is not the norm for us. Once again thank you IGP for another great vacation.

Our stay was 4/30 - 5/4 of 2019. Our stay here was great, the resort was well kept, clean, and very fancy compared to other resorts we have stayed at. The pool areas were perfect and well kept, also used the indoor pool a lot at the spa. The food was different than what I am used to (expected in a different country) but not bad at all. Just plan to eat and drink A LOT because there is plenty to have. Service throughout the resort was great, never had to wait for anything very long.
PLEASE READ: The resort "credits" of $600 are not like a gift card to use as you want as advertised. They are essentially a discount credit and you can only apply so much. I. e. a $100 massage is $20 off, taking away 20 from 600.

Well needed rest, relaxation and pampering! Our butlers (Mariana, Victor, Daniel, Ivan) were awesome as usual! So good to see Mirna again! Had fun with the entertainment team, Enzo and Sailin do a great job! We even tracked down Leslie at the Del Mar for a sweet reunion! Octavio was very attentive as usual, great food! Salavatore finally got us to join the Club, so we’ll be back again soon. Go to the Rhapsody Bar for custom exotic drinks!

I was undecided on what to give the hotel, but based on the totality I need to give my first one star review.
It started with check-in. Since I had a oceanfront corner suite so we had a private check-in. There was no waiting at the normal check-in, we had a fifteen minute wait. After complaining that we did not want to wait, they took us to our room. We asked for a room upgrade which we were told may be available during the week.
Our room was beautiful and clean. We had requested light beer, champagne and vodka in our room before we came down. None of our request were there. We asked the concierge who said they would bring it to us except the vodka. The vodka if you want premium vodka, we need to ask or it gets charged to you. When I called they also told me that I would be charged. They delivered the champagne but not the light beer until our second request.
That night after the room was cleaned there was a note for us to get our discount coupons. I go down to get the coupons the next day and I was told they needed my wife since they need to explain them to us. My wife was at the pool and I was not going to get her. I told them they can explain it to me, they told me I needed her there. I asked for a manger. While I was waiting for the manager they gave me the coupons with no explanation. I explained the situation to the manager. She apologized which happens a lot by staff. One of the coupons was for a room upgrade which is not available. That was basically the same for all the coupons, you were not able to get what you want.
One thing I did get my vodka in the room at no charge.
The food at the hotel was adequate not great. The best restaurant was Toni's. If you want to go to a show do not go to a late dinner, the Hibachi took us 30 minutes late and the minimum a meal at the restaurants took was one hour and forty five minutes.
There were days at the pool that the bar ran out of specific beers or alcohol, which should never happen. The ice was not frozen cold enough and melted quickly.
The servers at the pool bar and the waitresses were good but overworked. On a Saturday at 11, there was one bartender, not enough for the number of people.
We broke something outside our room by the door. I told the concierge as we were leaving the room. Three hours later, it was still there and I had to tell them again.
The hotel while it is being maintained is a bit of an issue. We had an outdoor hot tub and the maintenance people were walking and working right by the patio.
On Friday night they were supposed to have a casino for 45 minutes,. We get to the theater where it was supposed to be and there was no one, not even one worker there. We went to the front desk who had no idea that they were having a casino night until I showed it to them on their board. It took 20 minutes and more apologize from management.
Even when we were getting ready to leave, I went to confirm my pick up, they told me that they did not have me in the system. I again had to complain to management. I would have thought they would have wanted to get rid of me.
The sea weed on the beach is terrible and even though you see trucks that ride up and down the beach all day it never cleaned it up in front of the Grand.
The hotel is beautiful and well maintained. They need to hire additional staff.
I have stayed at Iberostar Grand Bavaro multiple times and there every one knew your name, not at the Grand Paraiso.
This stay may have ruined me from staying at an Iberostar hotel in the future.
This is not a five star hotel by any measure.

I went here for a wedding and it was a nice all inclusive place with white sandy beaches. I loved having the fully stocked fridge of DOS XX. Lol. And the buffets were fun too but def get old fast. So make sure you don't try to fill you plate with a bunch of stuff. Take it one meal at a time lol.

Have not been to Grand but have been to Haven and loved it!! Debating on going back there again vs Grand bc we know we already love it but want to try somewhere different.
