Stayed here many times before, but this was unacceptable. Was told by the clerk, “There’s no rooms available for 100 miles.” But we found many in minutes, one in Murphys but we stayed in Jamestown at the Country Inn.
The location was good, short walk into town and wine tasting. However, the property was not so good. When we entered the room we noticed right away a dank odor trying to be covered up with the strong smell of bleach. We opened the windows and tried to air it out. When I entered the bathroom I noticed right away that there was water damage and black mold in the ceiling above the shower. I alerted the front desk and also showed him pictures, his response was he would notify maintenance. We were not offered a new room, we never saw maintenance and they charged us full price. On another note, the mattress was extremely worn and thin and the pillows were about 2 inches thick. When I requested new pillows they were replaced with additional 2 inch thick pillows.... Very disappointing stay, as well as a health hazard. I would not recommend this property for anyone staying in beautiful Murphys, Ca.…
