First time here and food are good (included ice cream as dessert). Archery and creek side down stream float are my favor. You just bring your personal items, sleeping bags and other camping gears. Better to bring swimming suites and water toys to play in the natural pond and creek. Some places current is strong. It has a inflating station to pump your floats. Very clear camp site, no mosquito bites for me. Camp fire and lots of other activity kids can enjoy. Will come again next year.
Just spent 3 days/2nights up here with our two kids and two other families. I really wanted to love it, and it comes so close to being great. It just falls short in a few areas, but if they addressed these - or if they don’t matter to you - then this place will be an outstanding family getaway in the woods. The property is really nice. It feels like a mountain summer camp, and I would be very surprised if it didn’t have such a history at some point in the past. It is a collection of tent-cabin clusters built around a central campus that includes a dining hall, office, small store, and rec facilities. There is a river flowing through the center of the property, dammed upstream to make a lake for swimming (aka the pool). There are plenty of activities from nature hikes to floating down the river in tubes, to organized activities such as archery for kids and adults alike. The cabins are rustic. These are not Curry Village or Housekeeping Camp quality accommodations. They are elevated slat wood floors - think plank decking - with an A-frame that supports a canvas tent. All 4 walls are canvas. Each tent includes a balcony. The tents themselves are in various states of wear and disrepair. And this is where a bit of attention to detail could up the appeal. Making sure each tent can close up to provide privacy to the occupants shouldn’t be optional, but many tents are missing fasteners or large swaths of fabric making it impossible to button up. There is no way to gain even a modicum of privacy, and that is a problem given how close the tents are placed to one another. Our tent floor was covered in either rodent droppings or bat droppings, and it looked like it hadn’t been attended to for at least a season. This just isn’t acceptable. Our 4-person family tent can pop out of the stuff sack and be fully standing in 20 minutes without any fear of hantavirus, and it doesn’t cost $200 a night to set it up at any old campground. Say what you will about city budget cuts etc, camping at $200/night for a family of 4, a clean, functional, and safe tent is not an unreasonable expectation. The camp is all inclusive and 3 meals are provided. But bring lots of snacks because the food is awful. Soggy waffles, rubbery eggs, marinara sauce that would make chef boyardee embarrassed - I could go on. Even worse than this because it is 100% avoidable is the fact that at almost every meal they ran out of one or more dishes. No more bacon, only vegetarian sausage. No more corn dogs at lunch etc. this is totally preventable- they know how many guests there are. Prepare a decent menu and make sure to manage portions and servings to ensure all guests have a decent meal per the stated menu. Hire a cafeteria menu planner and get this right. Here and there the property could use some attention - especially in the bathrooms and showers - but these are luxuries that aren’t detrimental to a camping experience. Despite this we had a great time. No wifi. No phone service. Just hanging out with the kids enjoying the outdoors. No need to worry about cooking. Easy to pack in and out. It was a stress free weekend of playing in the river, going to bed with the sun, and just enjoying ourselves. …
They now have a hotel here called Yosemite Riverside Inn - Terrible. It is NO more than a 2 star inn - but charged me almost $200 per night!! Breakfast was included, very poor quality. Front desk people sir Grumpalot!! Will NEVER GO Their or recommend to any body. Took 1 hour 14 minute drive to Yosemite valley attractions. Better to stay at Yosemite Valley Lodge which central to all the attractions
