We went last night for the Christmas lights and we were really underwhelmed.
Having been in 2022 and seeing how magical it was and how much effort had gone into it we rebooked for this year. This time it felt half hearted, poorly managed and full of gimmicks that you’d see at a funfair not a proper venue. Weird performances from “bud” (aka buddy the elf), “ice princesses” (Elsa and Anna) but couldn’t be named as such for licensing reasons. These weren’t necessary, Santa and some elves would have been sufficient. It doesn’t need gimmicks.
There were lots of really dark areas last night that felt almost dangerous. No signs lit up, tiny maps given to you at the ticket office with no proper instructions. We won’t be coming back next year and it’s a shame.
Also posted this review on their facebook page and had it deleted and I have now been blocked. seems they can’t take criticism.

IV been attending the scare run for many years and always had a great time, this year the cut backs were noticeable,no atmosphere outside the actual scare run at all.Always been magicians, fire blowers, Ghostbusters etc but this year was hardly anything.Even walking around the grounds hardly any music or atmosphere which was very disappointing ,the scare run itself was still good but overall was disappointing after many years of an amazing experience

Yet another great Halloween night at fonmon the staff, atmosphere and all the attractions were great.
Went with my family and was there for hours. Lots so see and do and nice walk too.
Ignore above it only closes in between summer and winter for some outdoor activities but has lots if things in the castle and Halloween and Christmas are tip top

Halloween Nights at Fonmon Castle is an absolute must-do! From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is electric, with every corner perfectly themed for Halloween, giving the whole castle a spooky yet magical vibe. The Scare Run was thrilling and absolutely terrifying in the best way possible—actors were top-notch, and the twists and turns had us on edge the entire time. The show in the dome was another highlight, combining superb costumes, acting and singing, with a chilling ambiance that made it unforgettable. The dedication to detail, theming, and sheer entertainment value was beyond expectations. Perfect for anyone who loves a good scare and a memorable Halloween experience. Highly recommended!

Went with the family for an afternoon at Fonmon Castle. Great value for what you get: medieval village, dinosaur trail, Fonmon Castle etc.
Staff always really lovely. My nephew & niece did the axe throwing with Atlas - Atlas was brilliant with them. Really friendly, clear explanation and loads of encouragement.
Nice cafe on site as well. 10/10 would recommend.

Overall we had a lovely visit, but couldn't help but feel the shine has fallen off slightly compared to our previous visit at Christmas last year.
Starting with the good things:
The staff are INCREDIBLE throughout. The burger van, café, axe throwing and front reception staff were all absolutely brilliant and are a credit to the place.
The food was delicious. We had an amazing pulled pork cheeseburger and curry/chips at the burger van. It was honestly a huge surprise just how good it was and the ladies on the van were an absolute delight too. The burger alone was a reason to go back; we were even considering getting another for the road on the way out! Shout out to the delicious chicken katsu slice in the café too, and the lovely lady who served it to us.
The grounds are beautiful and it really is a lovely place to walk around, with enough to keep the children busy with the parks and trails.
Now the things that disappointed us slightly:
At Christmas the entrance was through the front gates with multiple staff checking tickets. This time the process was much slower with one poor lady trying to process everyone past the side gate, leading to bigger queues, which seemed an unnecessary alteration that benefitted nobody.
The food court sign is now pointing at a dinosaur display, instead of a food court. This seems entirely redundant as the burger van now has its back to the food court and looks closed from the food court sign. We only noticed it was open purely by chance and this seems like a complete waste of the food court area considering the amount of space already dedicated to dinosaurs. Please get the burger van back onto the food court area and give a proper place for people to sit and enjoy the food. It wasn't broken so why are you trying to fix it?
The fossil shop is gone! How on earth can you have signs saying "Jurassic Wales" around and you can't even buy a fossil on site?! The fossil guy was such a lovely person and my son and I were really looking forward to buying a fossil this time from him. I've heard since he was basically kicked out?!?! What a ridiculous decision by management. The arts and crafts center that has replaced the shop is of no interest whatsoever to us and could've easily been kept in the trailer as it was at Christmas, as nobody was using it when we went past (or it could've been put in the tent which was also basically unused). Further to that, the only shop is so small we didn't even bother going in because we had a pushchair and it is the same tiny shack at the front reception where people queue to get in and crowded to get a lollipop for their stamp trail. That's a huge own goal in my opinion and a massive downgrade.
The entertainers were great for the kids with fantastic costumes but the show was very short and apart from that there wasn't much in the way of theming for the superhero day. We didn't see any of them wandering around the site while we walked so it barely felt like we were at a themed event. This contrasted hugely with the Christmas event which had costumed actors around the grounds and lights and music at multiple points.
Around the seating by the kids play area there was no shade at all. We had to stand next to the sink behind the toilet block to feed our 6 month old to keep her out of the sun after changing her. Yes, we could've found somewhere nearby I'm sure but it was a bit disappointing to have so much seating and none of it under cover.
Pan's Garden (I think this was the name) seems to be unkempt and forgotten about which, while no deal breaker, is a shame.
Again, although not a deal breaker, the decision to have unisex toilets seems an odd one when there are enough toilets and space to not have to do that.
Overall it just feels like the sparkle has been taken from the place slightly with seemingly strange management decisions. You absolutely had it nailed down at Christmas, why do you need to change, remove or move things when they added so much value to the place as they were?

Fabulous day out for a multigenerational family!! The dinosaurs and the stamp trail were a huge hit with the little ones and beautiful grounds for the adults to appreciate. All they’ve got going on seems really good value for money. The staff are great. I’ve seen there’s various events in the coming months, really looking forward to the Queen event in September, it sounds epic!!

Fantastic family day out. So much to do and see. Both adults and children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Dinosaurs and stamp trail were a big hit with my little boy and meeting the Easter Bunny was the icing on the cake. We have returned several times since including the disco on bank holiday and can’t wait to go back!
