Seriously, you’ve come this far! It’s fantastic. The boat was smaller than we expected and the mini bus journey not so bone jerker as we expected. We had a fantastic time.

We stayed a night in the hostel after completing Cape Wrath Trail. Warm welcome from Angie who provided an evening meal of chicken curry & rice washed down by a tin of cold tennents. Bunkhouse was comfortable, we were the only people staying that night.

We arrived quite early (8.45am) to ensure we could get on the 9.15am "ferry" across the loch to get on the mini-bus that drove up to the Lighthouse. That day the ferryman was late, but at least we were able to join the trip and there was a good number of people available to make the trip worthwhile (maybe they don't do the trip if there's not enough people?) The minibus driver gave us a running commentary as we took the bumpy dirt track (not as bumpy as I expected it to be) for an hour up to the Lighthouse. We saw a Sea Eagle and Red Deer. We were given an hour at the Lighthouse, where we could use the toilet and purchase sandwiches, snacks and drinks. Lovely picturesque scenery.

Ive just spent a week on the Cape and my time at the lighthouse was one of the highlights. I moved to the Lighthouse after the Navy started a day's shelling a day early...and so I ended up spending two nights in the bunkhouse.
Angie and John are excellent, kind hosts who are there with advice when needed and busy with their own lives when not. The bunkhouse is basic but very comfortable and warm. The food is wholesome, hearty and delicious.
There is plenty to see at the lighthouse and its surrounding environment; looking east over the cliffs to Kearvaig, the peat crags and hags, and the incredible gorge leading down to the sea to the southwest of the lighthouse ( an hour's walk). Simply to visit the lighthouse, have a cup of tea and then go misses out on a lot of beautiful walks and landscapes.

The very definition of hospitality.
You may agree with this in spades because you have endured so many hardships on your journey. You may well feel it because you have just achieved a long cherished goal of actually getting here and both of these can colour your appreciation, and I get that, but trust me, none of us deserve the unbridled hospitality that you receive at the Cape Wrath lighthouse. Top tips. Don't just read the menu. Ask for more. And the crazy name, The Ozone Cafe, I really don't get that. But I never asked. If you got this far on foot you need to sleep. There's luxurious fresh bed linen and actual duvets in the bunk house. You will pick your way there through a fastidiously tidy work space and enjoy the unique scent of ship engine oil oddly cold cuddling still pistons. You may get lucky as I did and to hear some beguiling travellers tales before you join your dreams. But, last thing at night, and and first thing in the morning, you will experience the all encompassing hospitality of the incredible human team of just two gorgeous souls who make all this happen. Embrace this rare experience. It doesn't come around too often. Adversity and love in head on battle. It will leave you wanting more. ❤

A ferry and then an 11 mile cycle along one of those tough knarly tracks (11 miles back BTW), you need big, big tyres to make it happen if you wan tot stay remotely comfortable. But to say you've done the Cape Wrath challenge has got to be on your bucket list. And..you can get a snack and hot drink at the Ohhhhh.....Zone cafe

What a stunning location and a fantastic original place!
Friendly owner hosting a great wee cafe with a wide selection of snacks.
The lighthouse dominates the landscape and the surrounding buildings (original lighthouse keepers homes host a cafe and a bunkhouse.
I have been to half a dozen Stevenson lighthouses and everyone is awe inspiring…..but Cape Wrath especially so!
Stood on top of some of the highest sea cliffs in the UK it take your breath away.
The journey there via a wee ferry and a minibus ride added to the visit - great knowledge and entertainment from Andy the minibus driver and guide, great guy!
Don’t miss out on going if you are near, worth every moment.

We stayed with John and Angie for 1 night, they looked after us brilliantly, nothing was to much trouble
Staying in a Victorian light house was pretty special, facilities are basic but perfectly adequate for a night
John prepared a great evening meal for us and excellent breakfast before we left the next day
Cape wrath us one of those special places you really should make the effort to visit
The 11 mile road is pretty rough but we managed to cycle it on road bikes in a couple of hours
Highly recommended

We finished the Cape Wrath Trail and really enjoyed seeing Cape Wrath in the evening when all the tour buses had gone home. We had a nice filling evening meal and loved the newly renovated bunkhouse

I would have loved to visit this seminal point (the most North Western point of mainland Britain), but alas you can’t drive there and the round trip by ferry & mini bus took too long to fit my plans as I would not have had enough of my day left to reach my next overnight spot. Shame as both the Lighthouse and Ozone cafe seem pretty epic spots to have visited. It‘s a regret, but alas it simply did not combine.
