We had an excellent time on the Kyles of Sutherland with GoWild Highlands. We canoed up the river and learnt new skills and saw natural habitats of sand martens and lots of other local fauna. Our kids also had an amazing adventure, being in an open canoe for the first time . We would highly recommend this adventure and Ian is an excellent guide.

Ian is a great guy, very knowledgeable about the area with interesting facts as you canoe along. We were able to bring our dog with us, which was a huge bonus! We (dog included) had an amazing time and got some stunning photos, definitely something to try!

Spent a fabulous 3 hours canoeing the beautiful Kyle with Ian. He is such a delight to be with, his knowledge of the area and wildlife is outstanding.
Great, patient instructor too and we now feel confident enough to hire and control a canoe elsewhere.
The stop on a small beach area with hot drink and homemade lemon drizzle cake topped of an amazing trip.
We look forward to returning to the area and exploring more of the Kyle on another trip with Ian.

We did the half day canoe trip with Ian as a group of 2 adults and 2 kids aged 6.
The pace of the trip was perfect. Ian was knowledgable and enthusiastic and a great guide - he talked knowledgeably about the history of the local area and pointed out local wildlife including a sand martin colony nesting on the river bank.
The cup of tea and flapjacks were welcome. We took some sandwiches along to keep the kids well fed.
Highly recommended.

On a last minute whim i messaged Ian at 8pm the night before and he emailed us back promptly and said he could do a canoe trip the next day at 10.30am. He was very informative and friendly. He let us bring our two dogs too. The almond and orange cake with a cuppa half way through was delicious, courtesy of his wife. All round a fantastic experience. Thanks 😊

This canoeing trip was a real highlight of our week. A chance to paddle through such stunning landscape was calming, fun and because of Ian’s knowledge really interesting too. Our daughter was with Ian in his canoe and he looked after her, taught her how to paddle and told all of us about the local area and the nature around. His love for this place is obvious and on a sunny hot day like we had you can see why.
The lemon drizzle cake and tea midway through was a treat as well.
If you like nature then this trip is a must.

It's so difficult to put into words how amazing this experience was - I don't feel like I will be able to do it justice.
We spent the morning with Ian, along with our two children (aged 10 and 12). Ian was great with both of them taking the time to show them animal tracks, evidence of their visit to various parts of the riverbanks and could answer all the questions they asked. We were even lucky enough to catch a brief glimpse of an otter!
The pace was perfect, we didn't feel rushed and could really spend time enjoying the beautiful, peaceful surroundings.
I couldn't sign off this review without mentioned Mrs P's wonderful flapjack either - the perfect accompaniment to the hot chocolate/tea/coffee that was provided.
We cannot wait to return for another trip out with Ian!

What an amazing experience my husband and I had with Ian at Go Wild Highlands. Ian is an experienced teacher who made us feel at ease about canoeing along the Kyle of Sutherland and has an absolute wealth of knowledge about the flora and fauna of the Kyle and surrounding areas. We were fascinated as well as enjoying our peaceful stroll along the estuary. We managed to stalk an Otter who was fishing for food, spotted a female Hen Harrier and some Herons along the way so not a bad day for local wildlife spotting. We had the most amazing orange cake made by his wife Ann and a cuppa to wet the whistle. Couldn’t have had a better time and we highly recommend him for any further activities you may wish to do.

We had an amazing excursion with Ian while on our cruise. He picked us up at the port and drove us across the beautiful highlands. The canoe trip was picture perfect. Our family of three had an amazing adventure. My 9 year old hasn't stopped talking about his fun with Ian. Ian's wife and daughter made a lovely and tasty picnic lunch for us filled with locally sourced items. This picnic was a foodies dream come true! The local cheese, venison salami, smoked salmon, tomato soup and sourdough bread were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this peaceful and relaxing, yet active adventure. I highly recommend spending your time in port with Ian.

We’ve been out with Ian on his canoes for the last three years in a row, which says a lot about how much we enjoy his trips. Ian is passionate about what he does and where he lives, and we’ve seen some great wildlife while out on the water.
His wife also makes some of the best cakes we’ve ever eaten!
Ian tailors his trips to the weather, so you may need some flexibility to dates/times, but it’s well worth it.
Can’t recommend Go Wild Highlands enough. If you’re in the area, you can’t do better than to book a trip with Ian.
