A hidden gem overshadowed by so many natural delights in this park. Located just off the Grand Loop Road in the Upper Geyser Basin close to Old Faithful. Well maintained boardwalk takes you close to this well named beautiful small spring.

Blue Star Spring is located in Upper Geyser Basin a short walk from Old Faithful. It is a beautiful small spring in a park with over 10,000 geothermal features, but it is worth seeing as one walks along the boardwalk that will take you to dozens of other springs. It drains into the Firehole River.

This spring is easily accessible and a beautiful, obvious blue color. Well maintained trail leads you to the spring and surrounding area.

Blue Star Spring is located in Upper Geyser Basin, very close to Old Faithful Geyser.
I really liked the shape of the spring, it does resemble a star as its name suggests. And the water have such beautiful blue color (once again, as the name suggests...)
Recommended to visit there.

I was somewhat disappointed in this attraction. I was expecting a little more from some of the pics I had seen from previous visitors. It snowed on us during our time here, so this could be the reason that we didn't get to see it in full beauty, but overall something to check off your list in Yellowstone and say you have seen.

I was intrigued by the Blue Star Basin. It was in the shape of a star. The blue water seemed to be quite deep.

Sadly, in the past, people threw their garbage in that Star Spring. In 1946, the park decided to clean this spring. They took garbage out that was 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. Now, no one can throw any garbage in any of these fragile springs. I am glad about that. It's now as brand new, Worthwhile to see!

Small spring with good color just around from Old Faithful by the Firehole River. This area is popular with the large tourist groups as it so close. Worth the visit. If you are staying here get up early and visit before the crowds.

A smallish hot spring seen right beside the board walk in the Upper geyser Basin; it is still amazing to see the very clear and very hot water in the spring.

Six feet deep and sapphire blue, a short walk counterclockwise around old faithful geyser from the Inn, overlooking the firehole River, blue star is gorgeous! But appearances can deceive: bones visible on the bottom to your near right are from an elk that broke through thin sinter crust in the early 1980s, becoming encrusted with geyserite, they are mute testimony to the ephemeral nature of the earth about us.
