We'd heard quite a bit about the Sunday Jazz Brunch at The Columns so we made reservations well in advance (which we later realized we didn't need). There were two good things about our brunch - the jazz guitarist and the bread pudding. It was a rainy day so maybe that kept folks away, but we were one of maybe 20 people there. Our soup, salads and entrees were disappointing (the salad tasted like the bag it came from) and certainly not worth the cost. The wait staff was slow and their clothing was dirty (ewwww) as in it had not been washed in weeks. The dining room felt like we had arrived at a wedding reception too late with folded tables in various spots and chairs haphazardly placed. It is a beautiful building but could use some loving care and touches. So many wonderful restaurants in New Orleans, don't waste your money or time on The Columns' jazz brunch.

A lovely venue; we went for drinks, which were good, and to hear some music. The music was very good but the musicians did far more talking than playing music. This would be a lovely place to have a late afternoon drink on the terrace in warm weather. Staff was nice. Heard that there's an elevator if you stay in the BnB, but a lot of stairs up to the front door.

We stopped by The Columns after a long day of walking around the Garden District. It's an old mansion turned hotel. I think this was my favorite place to sit and relax while in New Orleans. The building itself is incredible. The staff is super friendly and allow you to go inside and take a look around. I loved to be able to sit outside on the patio and enjoy a drink while admiring the scenery around me.

The columns was a rundown fleabag hotel when I lived in NOLA in the late 60s but it’s fairly inexpensive, funky hotel now. Located on St Charles Av in the historic uptown neighborhood , the hotel has seen a lot of upgrades. The public places sport a melange of antiques. And the bar with its dark wood banquette is cool. From the second floor balcony you can sit in the shade and watch the street cars trundle by. There’s a restaurant but I didn’t try it; too many great restaurants nearby to take a chance. On the downside, the bathrooms are shabby and the WiFi didn’t work. If u sit on the front veranda, they want you to buy a drink or food. There’s no parking so your on your own there. But our room was clean and the bed (which is so high that they provide a steps to climb aboard) was comfy. The AC worked too. If you want the opposite of a corporate hotel experience, The Columns is a good alternative.

This elegant hotel is an architectural gem. We attended a family wedding here, and the staff could not have been nicer or more efficient. The food was superb as well.

Gorgeous historic hotel fronting St. Charles. The inside has original art and decor, including a carved mahogany staircase and beautiful stain glass windows. Unless it’s miserable outside, the place to be is outside on the massive front porch enjoying a beverage and watching the world go by. Every so often, the trolley comes past and you feel transported to another era. Excellent place to take a break and spend the afternoon. They have cocktails, beer and wine and a bar menu. We didn’t try the food, but our Old Fashions were great.

Before our Garden District Walking Tour, our group of female wedding guests had mimosa's on the front porch of this historic hotel. Great experience. Lovely area.

As a young solo traveler, I tend to prefer independently-owned, historic hotels, so I was in love with the idea of staying in an authentic Victorian mansion during my time in New Orleans. And the Columns did not disappoint! The decor was gorgeous, and I loved the antique furniture throughout the hotel. Mind you, it is an old residence, so some things might appear worn or the floors/stairs may not be totally even, but it all adds to the character of this place, which is hopefully why you're staying here!

A few things I loved:
Complimentary southern breakfast each morning was delicious
The hotel is located right on the St. Charles streetcar line, which made it super easy to get around the city
Sitting on their upper balcony, open to guests only, was so peaceful and relaxing, and is great for people-watching

My biggest regret was that I didn't go downstairs to listen to live music the nights I was there; otherwise my stay was fantastic!

Decided to stop by to have a drink during happy hour on the front porch of this lovely hotel and stayed for dinner. Food and service was excellent. After dinner live music was going on in the front parlor room and the musicians was very good. Sang and told history and background of the songs and music. We had such a nice evening and the wait staff was very attentive and friendly.
