Place is fantastic and the food great. As with most places around the lake, service is slow, but at least they are friendly.

The place has a beautiful scenery but what a shame to have a horrible experience with a poor service, super long wait and absolutely no presentation of food. Our drinks came after a 20 minute of wait which was only a can of beer and a glass of pilot Grigio. A simple greens salad came after another 20 minute of wait. The server did not even came once to check on us .

I just played there 08/21/22 and was totally disappointed. I was hoping for a championship quality golf course based upon the cost to play. To say it did not live up to the hype or cost to play is an understatement. VERY bad cart path directions from hole to hole. So very easy to get confused and go to the wrong hole if you weren't careful. Group in front
of me went to the wrong hole for hole #2 and I think played the 7th hole instead since it looked like the logical next hole to play. You can easily mistake hitting to another fairway if your not careful or to a high grass area thinking you hit a good shot. Bunkers when there were VERY plain and basic. The kind you would see at a low end golf course. Course was very dry and rock hard. Too many hills where a seemingly good tee shot would bounce off the fairway. I was ready to leave after the third hole.

We were out of state visitors who road the day before to check out local golf courses. This location, especially the Country club interior was beautiful and the course appeared in great shape. However, the golf course proved to be very disappointing. Upon arrival, The Pro shop was polite to leave us out prior to high school team appearing. Immediately we noticed there are no directional signs only a marker at each of the tee boxes. We were lost by the 4th hole along with running into others still looking for hole 2. It was an ongoing problem. So very frustrating! On the 15 th hole a foursome let us go thru but with no directional signs again, we missed 16 and 17. Never again no matter how pretty the greens look.

This review is for the RESTAURANT at this location. There are actually TWO. Trip advisor needs to list them under that category. Two GREAT PLACES TO EAT.!! They have a pub style downstairs and a first class eatery on the main floor called Seymours. Finally a first class place to dine in this town.!

I'm truly shocked by the high reviews for Seymours Restaurant. Four of us went last night with high anticipation and excitement for the hyped fine dining and quality meal. The atmosphere is beautiful but to say the least all 4 of us were sadly disappointed at the service and food received. After being seated we waited probably a good 15mins before drinks were ordered, then we waited probably another 15 just to get them. We then order chicken wings, and onion rings which were good. Soup was eh ok, salad was horrible. It tasted like grass and supposedly there was dressing on it but none of us could tell. For our meals we had strip steaks, ribeyes and shrimp scampi. Mind you veggies and startch are separate/cost. So your paying approximately $30 just for your piece of meat which by the way order the larger cut if you plan on being full because the cuts of meat were very gritty/fatty. If you order steak go a step over what you normally like as far as how its cooked. If you like medium rare, order medium, if you like medium, order medium well. We ordered the veggie mix what was supposed to be broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. It was in a tiny little dipping sauce bowl, mainly cauliflower, one carrot and one teeny broccoli floret for $8! Once we got our meal, I ordered a draft drink to have with it, I was finished with my meal before my drank arrived. Mind you the place was not even close to being packed. We had a total of 6 drinks.
Needless to say we had alot of food uneaten and a nearly $400 bill! Not including tip. For people who don't get out much we look forward to a fine dining, good meal when we can. We received less than last night unfortunately. Will not try it again. Boooo.

We played our annual Hickey Open here again on Sat July 4, 2020. Tee time 9:15, started at 9:00. This public course has undergone a massive makeover to avoid the past washouts from heavy rains. Two years in the making but it is now in great shape. New layout is a bit more challenging but the premium on accuracy remains. Greens were fast but fine. Good job by George & staff. We finished our round in 4 hrs, 20 min. despite letting a twosome jump ahead of us. $55 for 18 w/ cart.
The clubhouse & restaurant are being rebuilt after a kitchen fire two years ago. Interior work has begun. It will be a beauty.
Always top on our list when on vacation in the ADKs.
Thanks again George. See you next year if not sooner.

We ate dinner here in the club house the night we arrived and have a fantastic meal. I had the seafood pasta (gluten free) and my companion had steak. The chef here is excellent, the menu offers a good variety of different foods, the atmosphere is quiet and seating is comfortable. The wait staff was great and the wine was good. Prices were very reasonable for a county club setting.

We have been playing golf every summer at Ticonderoga for the last 30 plus years. It is the closest public course to our summer place nearby. Quite hilly and challenging. Course getting better due more water being used on greens and fairways. During dry parts of summer, course gets quite hard.
About 10 to 20% of shots are blind on course due to the hills and creative hole layout. Suggest if you can to play with a local or summer resident to help you with direction, club selection and course strategy when you play for the first time.
Pro shop staff quite helpful. The Pro, George, been there for years, most pleasant fellow.
Back nine being improved in a large part...course still open but the next holes and greens will be done in the summer of 2017. Be quite a relief to play new holes....more sand, more creativity. Looking forward to it.
As for tee times, suggest you call pro shop. Typically not a problem, but plenty of group outings so you will want to avoid them.
The meals at the Country club tend to vary in quality. Maybe dependent upon staff operating at the time?? Anyway average much of the time....

Beautiful public golf course. Pretty wide open, very little sand. Water on several holes. Greens not too tough. Course is in great shape, although construction work is in progress on a couple of holes on the back nine. Never crowded. Great value.
