Nice, clean little village with great shops and old carnival games

We walked through the area, with many, many shops and food opportunities. There were old video games and carnival games to play, a merry go round and paddle boats to rent on the pond. It was an enjoyable walk and nicely set up.

Wonderful area....

We visited here several times during our stay in Galloway, sometimes with relatives and sometimes without; and sometimes just for a quick stop to grab some bakery, candy and/or soup.
The village has a wonderful collection of historic buildings, housing an eclectic array of shops and eateries. Several of the buildings are an extension of the local Inn, allowing one to stay right in the midst of the village.
The shops range from interesting to touristy, and typical to quirky; with pretty much a good chance there will be something of interest for almost everyone.
The temptations are quite extensive; with shops focusing on peanut butter concoctions, chocolate & other candies, honey centric treats, great bakery, wonderful coffee creations, etc., etc..
There are several really decent restaurants from which to choose; with tasty brunches at the Smithville Bakery, excellent corn chowder & huge pork chops at the Smithville Inn, etc.
There is a lake with water fowl, a carousel, and a small train that wanders throughout the area; along with numerous benches around for resting and/or people watching. This is a great area to spend a day (or several), and treat oneself to a array of indulgences.

Many Shops Closed Mid-Week in February

Village looked in good shape, but on a Tuesday, good weather, many stores were closed. At a mall stores could never get away with that. If you want to close Mon and Tues in Jan and Feb do so and post. Days of Olde antique shop and bird sanctuary down street saved day.

Extremely Disappointed

The village is pretty to walk through during the holiday season. The shops, however are being run by grouchy, bitter, unpleasant people. We visited the village Dec 12, and Dec 20, 2021. We went to the Winery, Bakery, and Smiling Llama shops. The counter people were horrible rude at every shop. I don’t understand why they would treat their customers so poorly. Surely, small shop owners need the business. At least that is what I hear. I purchased items which I could purchase on line at a cheaper price only because I wanted to support the shops. I will not make that mistake again. I don’t recommend this stop on your travels. Just continue on to Atlantic City, Wildwood or Cape May.

Delightful gem in the pine barrens

We have been coming here for decades and on our 50th anniversary it was a treat again. Recommend checking out the shops especially Two Ducks.

Such a cute little shopping village

Such a nice way to spend the day! The shop owners/workers are very friendly. There are quite a variety of shops and things to purchase. Most of the stores are on the tiny side so they can be difficult to navigate when it's busy. We happened to go this past weekend during Oktoberfest. There was a ton of people! The parking and traffic situation was a bit crazy. People were parking on the side of the road and walking. There were a lot of vendors/tents. I had a burger from one of the vendors and honestly, it was terrible. Probably the worst I ever had. The kettle corn was excellent. The toffee peanuts were very good. My friend got the chocolate covered pretzels from the bakery shop and said they were amazing. Even though normally there are many benches to sit, for this event, they should've added a lot more. It was very difficult to find a place to sit and eat. The place is always very clean. Even the bathrooms were decent. Definitely a nice way to spend the day!

Smithville, a relaxing place to visit

Lovely village with many stores, restaurants, and a path to walk. You can sit on a bench on the lake or visit a variety of shops. You could bring a picnic lunch or eat in one of the restaurants. You can take a paddle boat ride or ride on a train ( for kids). There was also a carousel. There was a bridal party there taking pictures and it is a nice spot for pictures. I hadn't been there for years and was happy to see it well maintained and very clean.

Family friendly, fun for all ages!

This is a great place to have fun for all ages! Whether you have plenty of money to spend or your on a budget, there's plenty of fun stuff to do here all year round! My kids love the train and paddle boats.. although I'm very disappointed they got rid of my favorite store 'through the looking glass'!! I loved that store! What happened?? I would rate 5 stars if it was still there!

Nice destination for visitors of all ages.

Very pleasant day in this lovely shopping village "skansen". Large area with many original historic buildings brought to this location and turned into interesting complex of cute boutiques. Historic Smithville lends itself to easy exploration on foot or via mini train which is loved by children and senior citizens alike. Today we explored nearly all stores and each one had something special and eye catching. We were able to buy some special gifts for family members. Hot day like today - many visitors enjoyed boat rides on the village lake.
It will be fun to come back during the Christmas season for gift shopping especially due to a nice Christmas store.

Quaint and fun Place to Visit

This is such a great place to stroll around and enjoy a variety of shops and eateries. It can get crowded, so you should check what's going on there before visiting. Also, if you want to get there, shops don't open till 10:00, though it's still fun to just walk around or sit by the lake and watch the ducks do their thing. The Village does offer various events during the year, which might be worth the visit as well.
As far as eating, the Smithville Inn is there, offering a fantastic dining experience, and Fred and Ethel's is there as well, opening at 11:30. A fun place to eat with good stuff on the menu. All casual.
And hey, if you want to stay overnight, there are a few B&B choices right on the grounds, or the Seaview Hotel ten minutes away is another choice. For kids, there's a small train excursion throughout the Village and a Merrry-Go-Round.
