This is a fantastic working museum, showcasing the technology from the 1700s. All the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, making the whole experience really interesting!

The museum was an eye opener. The re-enactors that were there gave a thorough and interesting overview of the mills workings and how it was the center of life in the village.

Very beautiful. We were able to reach this place by walking the Brewster garden trail. The whole thing was beautiful. I would go again. I did not go inside

Extremely disappointing

Absolutely ridiculous. We paid for six people and they’re not even grinding and it’s a 1960s mill. False advertising and you can’t see it the process. Complete waste of time and money.

A Grinding we will go…..

Tickets can be purchased in combo with the living museum and the Mayflower. The grist Mill is a replica but is fully functional and continues to actively operate as a Mill today. Lots of good history to learn here.

Easy to find after seeing Plymouth town.

Interesting spot to check out, was included with purchase I chose to see Plymouth village and the ship. I was surprised to see such a nice picnic area around that area as well. They had a large parking lot close by so that made it easy to get to the Mill.

A replica grist mill from 1636.

The present mill is a rebuilt replica of the first mill from the mid-1630's. The mill is fully functional milling corn, wheat, rye & barley depending on what type of grinding stone is being used. I didn't recall seeing any milling happening.

The first stop will be admissions at the gift shop where a visitor will be directed to. Once at the mill, Kim-one of two guides-will explain in detail the mill's history, people who ran & owned the mill and what type of mill stone will be used. After Kim's presentation she will ask fo any questions, she will encourage questions.

Just a short down a staircase, Kasey(s) will explain the gearing system and the turning shaft. Her part of the tour only lasted at 12 mintes. A complete visit probably will last at most one hour depending Kim & Kasey's explaining. A couple and myself started outside & moving inside. Kim would be part way through an explanation and more visitors would show up, causing to Kim to start again to a degree. There should to be set hours, like every half or three quarters between talks.

If a visitor has never viewed a mill of any type, they are in for a history lesson. A review can only inform so much, a visit is needed. There is a curved FREE parking lot. A visit is highly recommended.

NOTE: If a visitor is looking for Burial Hill, they only need to turn right out of the mill, walk uphill to Summer Street, cross Summer, walk under the Burial Hill Arch and walk uphill an asphalt walkway. At the end of the hill will be a brick staircase to the cemetery. There is a larger staircase to the right, which is probably the main steps.

Please go on grinding day.

It was interesting, but we were not able to go on “grinding day”. I’m sure I would have given the museum a higher rating if we had seen the grinding. The staff are extremely nice and very helpful. The grounds are absolutely lovely.

Don’t miss the mill!

Kim and her team were fantastic! She and the two young people working with her were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We got to see the mill actually working which was awesome. We got a combo ticket for the rest of the museum, and the mill was by far the best site. The information was great for the adults and the hands on stuff downstairs made even our youngest entertained.

Tour guide was very informative, patient and enthused. I had wished they were grinding corn but that is only on the weekend.
