Occasional guest lectures are being organized at the museum, which can be attended free of charge by visitors. When I visited last Sunday, a lecture about dating methods using radio isotopes was ongoing, very technical but interesting to listen to because of the wealth of daily life examples that were given. The schedules for lectures are on the website.
Being my second visit, I went along with the paleontology tour, focusing on fossils (first floor). Unfortunately, the stairway is small and there is no elevator available, so this exhibition is inaccessible to wheelchairs. The guide, who presented himself as "Marcel" is a passionate speaker with an incredible knowledge about earth sciences. The tour was free of charge, and lasted about 90 minutes (paleontology only).
Students and teachers can enter the museum free of charge, so make sure to present your teacher's card or student card if you're entitled to have one. The museum can be easily reached from Antwerp Central station with trams 2 and 6, directions Merksem or Luchtbal. Get out at stop Gasthuishoeve, from where it's only a 3 minute walk.

I was very surprised to find the museum at first, it doesn't appear to be well known outside Antwerp. It's easily reachable from the Antwerp city center by public transport (take tram 6 direction "Luchtbal" and get off at "Gasthuishoeve", then walk towards the church).
The museum has a very large mineralogical collection with a scientific part (systematic collection) and curiosities for occasional tourists and visitors. The treasury holds countless gemstones, a must-see for anyone interested in gems and diamonds. On the first floor, there is a dark room with a magnificent collection of fluorescent minerals, which are very surprising if you see fluorescence for the first time!
Only negative point is the limited and Dutch-only information in the exhibits, making a guided tour a must. However, guided tours are free and available at simple request at the reception desk, highly recommendable! Will certainly visit again to see the fossils!

Heel veel plaatsjes! Maar vanwegen corona zeer weinig mogelijkheden.
Ontbreekt er iets of is iets onjuist?
