This is a great little stop, while feeding the fish and spending some time in this area. I remember going to this place as a child, almost 40 years ago.
Definitely worth the time to visit and spend a lazy/casual day at Island Park/Big Springs.

We have always bypassed this destination and we are sorry we did. This is a very short wonderful walk to the cabin and to see all the details he created by hand was amazing. This is a little precious and historic spot worth the time.

Very beautiful spring along with a cabin that was was built by a little person that fit everything to his own size. Due to Covid, you can’t take tours of the house but you can look in through the windows.

This is a beautiful setting for a cabin. It overlooks a pond fed by warm springs, and is set in the forest. We saw the usual fish and ducks but were also fortunate in that we saw a moose and her calf feeding in the river across the bridge in front of the cabin.

This is a review of the place more than the cabin. Thothe story of Johnny Sack is great. The springs are unbelievably beautiful. Hundreds of acre feet of crystal clear water rushing out of the ground all around the bluff base. Watched an ouzel forage, as well as mergansers. Well worth the visit.

The spring here has the most beautiful water and many times you can see a moose or two. A really peaceful place

Craftsmanship of a sort rarely seen now. The volunteer gives a great tour and the careful eye sees things you’ll never see again in how things can be made. The social story behind how it came to be preserved is also a great story. And the springs are awesome!

Cool little place to visit while in Island Park, ID. Really pretty views and some interesting information about an early settler of Island Park.

A beautiful place and well worth a visit. A very welcoming place.I read a review from a person whose kids were climbing over barriers to get into reserved places, complaining about them being reprimanded. Have respect when visiting landmarks and watch your little darlings or stay home!

First thing is to Anticipate their is a HIGH Probability you will have snow & COLD temperatures. Besides the suggestions from Renee, there are multiple places to visit within a reasonable radius of Island Park. Yellowstone NP (multiple opportunities); Quake Lake Visitor Center; Red Rock Pass, Madison River area. As far as historical (besides Johnny Sack Cabin): there is Virginia City, MT (Old West); Smoke jumpers Base Camp in West Yellowstone,ID; Flood Museum in Rexburg, ID There are many hiking & ATV trails close by & rentals are available. * In fact, there are snowmobile rentals in West Yellowstone. As well as an Imax Theater and the Grizzly Bear & Wolves attraction.
As far as WY, If you travel out the East Gate of Yellowstone you could travel to Cody. There is an Amazing Buffalo Bill Wild West Museum. Allow yourself two days, there is a LOT to see (5 different wings), plus your entrance tickets grants you access to Two days. Just outside of town there are several locations one can drive to discover if you "see" wild horses. Cody offers a wonderful Community Center with fitness, swimming pools, & even wading pools with a water slide for little ones. They accept non-members for a daily fee at a reasonable price. Of course both places offer an abundance of good places to eat or stay. Best wishes on an Enjoyable trip. Have Fun, Stay Safe... Live Life to the Fullest! :-)
PS: You'll likely find Lots of Things to Do & places to go on Trip Advisor.
