Our home is just outside the boundary of lake membership eligibility, but that hasn’t ever been an issue. We simply wait until after Labor Day when the Lake Assn opens the lake up to the ineligible locals. This year, access was denied to any non members during the usually open off-season. Wr were told it is because of COVID, but we aren’t sure that is a valid reason, since during the summer many more people (owners and tourists) enjoyed it despite COVID, while on the day we were there, a total of 5 people would have been there, had we been allowed to enter and share the lake with the 3 members sunning on the beach. The rating of 3 takes into consideration that in some years previously we were able to enjoy it in fall, unless it was emptied.

The grill is under new ownership/ management. It was a snack shack before, it’s a snack shack now - solid satisfying tasty food at a reasonable price. There have been a few changes, if anything, for the better.

We have visited Twain Harte Lake many times this summer. It is a Members only Lake (tied to home ownership) but members can bring guests (and owners renting out property can grant access to renters).
The lake is sometimes cold depending on the amount of water being brought in to the lake but you get use to it and it feels wonderful on a warm day.
Lake is open Memorial Weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Some of the amenities:
Snack Shack run like a restaurant. Good food and treats.
Paddle Boards and Water Bikes for rent.
2 water slides in shallow water, numerous docks throughout the lake.
2 diving boards at “THE ROCK”.
Lifeguards in the shallow end.
Air compressor for blowing up inflatables (broken a lot this summer but still a nice feature).
Bingo nights, bands at the snack shack, yoga on the beach and kids swimming lessons.....
Probably missing some but that gives you a great idea of how wonderful the lake is. And last but not least, well managed by the staff and board of directors!

What a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT @ the Snack Shack tonight. Paid at the window for the 4th of July BarBQ $25 each and they ran out of food minutes after myself and several others had just paid. Families with kids had no meals available to them. After all the complications from the parents they made some French Fries. Finally they made some extra chicken and even came to my table to offer me to come back up. I get there and Im told sorry No Chicken for me. What A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The owner stops by my table to offer me a piece of chicken. He should have offered me my money back... They should not have sold us tickets. People showed up just 1 hr after it started with per paid tickets and NO FOOD... As a Lake Membership Owner I will no longer buy food here.

It’s a membership lake so entry is limited from Mem Day to Lab Day. But the best times of the year to visit are the off season months. No life guards, so you’re on your own. There are rarely many people those months so it’s a very tranquil experience. Great to just visit for a short time to take a stroll out to the rock and enjoy the sunset!

Very nice lake open for the summer, but you have to be a member (based on owning a house in Twain Harte( and there is a waiting list and cost to join. Not so good for visitors.

We've paid in to the fund for years and seen the mismanagement. The holiday BBQ was really bad, I'd have been so embarrassed to serve up those cold hockey puck 'burgers' on my own deck grill. I would challenge them any day to a grill-off. I definitely want a refund.

We lucked out and rented a home that has the lake pass. It is a small lake, but just what we needed. We also got to watch the eclipse from the lake with others at the lake that shared their glasses with us. We love sitting and reading and swimming in the mountain lake!

This lake is charming, but know that it is a PRIVATE lake and only members and their guests are allowed.

The Lake has changed little in many years. An extra slide and some resurfacing of the Rock is about it. The $6 charge per person per day is a little annoying and you must be staying in a cabin with Lake membership to enter. For that you get a shady beach suitable for the adults and platforms and diving boards for the teens. Free bingo twice a week for prizes and a pretty good snack shack as well. But come late afternoon as the shadows lengthen and the Lake quiets and you'll see why it's a 5 star site.
