A must see attraction when in the area. This Arkansas State Park features a craft village portraying the cultural arts of the Ozarks from the past to the present. You meander through village shops and meet the artisans who are making, displaying and selling their wares. There is also live folk and bluegrass music performed throughout the day. When we visited, Mary Parker was playing with a small group. Just 16 years old, this young violin player has won multiple state fiddle championships in several state.
The park is nestled in the mountains just outside of Mountain View and is dotted with historic buildings, some moved to the property from rural farms where they had been someone’s homestead. There is also a restaurant on site and the all the facilities are very clean. Plan to spend several hours if you go as the music alone will lure you into just hanging around. This is a seasonal park and is only open late April thru October.

The friendliness of the men and women who were working at the exhibits made the visit very enjoyable. They took time to speak with all who came and explained their craft with a smile.

Awesome experience!!! Great place for families with young children to learn about yesteryear and the arts. We like supporting local artists instead of buying junk made in China. There is an admission fee, but a family package is also available. No senior pricing. The Porch Pickers were wonderful!!! The 1 hour show seemed like 30 mi. We also ate at the restaurant and the food was great, nice size portions and reasonably priced. We will return and would recommend to family & friends. Our out of state guests also enjoyed😁

This is a pretty neat little place. We aren’t much into shopping at places like this, but we still had a bunch of fun touring the little shops. I liked watching the blacksmith and the live music. I was happy to see the youth involved in playing bluegrass music. The zip lining course next door was cool also. The guy that drives the shuttle is a character also.

The Center wasn't very busy with visitors which allowed us to talk at length with most of those in the various buildings. All were glad to explain their particular craft. An outdoor pavilion had a folk music group which played mostly old Blue Grass and Gospel music. The performers explained the history of the songs with interesting tidbits. WE enjoyed our visit.

I paid to go shopping. Not many demonstrations were going on. Mostly stores to buy items. There is not enough to keep children interested. If you want a great experience I would go back to Solver Dollar City before coming here.

Best kept secret.
This is such a great place; Educational and fun. Enjoyable for all ages. Give yourself enough time to visit with the artisans. They love to talk about their craft. You have an opportunity to learn a lot.

First off they have the BEST restaurant in the area for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have renovated cabins that rival any Hampton Inn or Fairfield. The village is historical with crafts of all kinds and an authentic log cabin. A lady who grew up in the cabin was talking about it on our last trip. They have zip lines and hold blue grass concerts.

We visited during Covid precautions so the park does not have some of the music and food offerings they usually have. However, having said that, the folk artists were there, shops were open and it was a nice overall visit. The artists there are all willing to show you as much of their craft as you would like to see and answer any questions. Goods are for sale but there is no pressure to buy. If you like folk crafts, this is a great stop.

I’m trying to get a business name and contact info. I was in the Mountain View area last fall for the Bean Fest and visited a craft store that was between Mtn View and Batesville on highway 14. It was in an old church building and I was thinking it was Rita’s or something like that. I wanted to ask about something I bought while I was there. Can anyone help me out with contact information? The Ozark Folk Center State Park has concerts at 7pm (doors open at 6) on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Picking on the Square generally takes place most evenings in downtown Mountain View, at a small park located Northwest of the courthouse on Washington Street. It does not have a schedule, is nice weather dependent and the people playing are mostly there to just play and socialize.

Ozark Folk Center State Park does not offer camping, however, there are privately owned RV parks in Mount View close to the park.

Thinking of a new, fun place for our next family reunion. Is there an RV campground, with full hookups for about 5 RVs? Also would like to be near cabins for family who don't bring an RV. We probably would need cabins for about 20-30 people. Would like to be near a river or lake for water fun. Some place off the beaten path.

Can I hold my dog or put her in a back pack. She doesn’t do well on leashes? They scare her to death.

Yes, your dog is allowed in the park but, must be appropriately restrained so as to be under the direct physical (not verbal) restrains so to be under physical control by the owner
