Ci siamo ritrovati per caso ad Avanos e abbiamo deciso di visitare la parte vecchia, detta anche Old Town. Poco dopo l’ingresso ad arco, sulla destra, abbiamo notato questo tipico negozietto di artigianato locale, con esposti utensili in terracotta. Siamo entrati per curiosità e al suo interno e ci ha accolto Bircan, il proprietario di una gentilezza e accoglienza come poche. Ci ha invitati ad assistere ad una dimostrazione di lavorazione di argilla, con un vecchio rullo tramandato di generazione in generazione. La cosa tipica è che ci si può fermare e provare a realizzare un proprio souvenir. Quando abbiamo lasciato un’offerta libera e acquistato anche un bellissimo piatto in argilla bianca tutto decorato, Bircan ci ha comunque voluto regalare un posacenere artigianale sempre decorato.
Avanos è da visitare in assoluto se si viaggia in Cappadocia. Chez Bircan è una tappa obbligatoria.

Un’esperienza favolosa! Chez Bircan è un bravissimo artista di Avanos che, da tre generazioni, lavora l’argilla che qui si trova nel vicinissimo fiume rosso che attraversa la città. Ci ha ospitati nel suo negozio mostrandoci come lavorare l’argilla, facendoci provare con tanto di tazza lasciata come souvenir e trattandoci come fossimo di casa. Abbiamo comprato a prezzi modici due bellissimi piatti, ai quali Bircan ha aggiunto una tazza come regalo. Passateci, saranno 10-15 minuti “formativi” e gradevolissimi del vostro viaggio in Cappadocia. Grazie Chez Bircan!

Such a friendly store my family enjoyed the experience and the selection was great. so much information about the plates and the history that each style comes from. the prices were very reasonable we purchased a lot!

Avanos was worth visiting just for M. Bircan`s shop. Such a great experience! The guy is very friendly and patient. We stumbled upon his shop by accident. He invited us in and offered tea. M. Bircan guided our kid through the whole process of making her first ever pottery for almost 30 minutes, being able to smile and greet other customers without letting his attention from the wheel. Didn`t charged us a lira for the whole experience, however we felt we need to buy something at his shop just to thank him which we would do anyway, his pottery is so beautiful! M. Bircan also speaks French, which was an asset for us. 5 stars!!

I saw the reviews on TripAdvisor so we made the short trip from Goreme to visit this shop. I was hoping my kids would be able to make a pot on the wheel and was very happy when the shop owners were so welcoming. I thought we would need a reservation but we were able to just walk right in and the potter gave us a demonstration first and then he let all the kids (age 11) make their own pot with his help and guidance. He and the other guy were both so nice. And of course I wanted to buy some of the items that the potter had made himself because they were great reminders of our trip and experience. I would definitely recommend visiting this shop.
Not only was this shop great but the whole town was so artsy and charming. Everywhere we looked we saw art incorporated into the environment from sculptures along the river front to a whole garden of sculptures at the outdoor eating area for the McDonald's. This town was definitely a hidden gem and worth a visit for a few hours.

가게 주인이신 Hassan 씨가 매우 친절하시며, 또한 3대째 도예를 가업으로 이어오시고 있는 장인이시기도 합니다. 체험활동도 재밌었고요, 지하동굴을 활용한 가게에도 볼게 많습니다. 즐거운 시간이었어요 추천해요!!!!

Quand nous sommes rentrés dans son échoppe, quelle surprise de voir Hasan, sans volonté que l'on achète à tout prix ses produits ("aujourd'hui ce n'est que pour regarder"), nous faire une démonstration de ses talents en poterie Et nous proposer d'essayer par la même occasion !
Son authenticité, sa gentillesse et sa générosité (cadeaux, nourriture, boisson) font toute la différence avec les autres commerçants de la région. Nous recommandons à 2000%.
