On my visit to Istanbul, I wanted to get a taste of Turkish art and culture, and Les Arts Turks did not disappoint. I was torn between so many options, but ended up choosing the fascinating art of Ebru.
Mr Fikret, in his friendly approach, taught me the truly unique art of “painting on water”. It was exactly as he described it; therapeutic, like painting a dream.
Location is good, a short walk from the grand bazaar. Service was beyond amazing. Mr Ali, the coordinator, spoke good English, was quick to respond to my request and arrange a workshop for me at such short notice, and he went out of his way to accommodate me.
This was an amazing experience on so many levels. A great way to spend an afternoon in Istanbul. Highly recommended.

This was an unbelievable experience. I love arts and crafts so it was exciting to create such beautiful marbling papers. Mr. Fikret has been a master at this art for almost 25 years. He takes great care and patience to help you create something beautiful. I went by a day early as I had a hard time finding the place but once I discovered it, it was easy to locate. One thing I didn't even think of was the pieces of paper do have to dry so you will need to come back and get your finished products! Cannot wait to create something with my beautiful works of art!

Alp was so helpful in organising everything for me. I did the Ebru marbling class with Fikret who has so helpful and patient, he was an excellent teacher and taught me all about Ebru. I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Istanbul!

Si votre seule intention est de passer 2 h à patouiller avec des couleurs et de ramener de belles composition pour étonner vos amis ça vous conviendra tout à fait. Moi je cherchais autre chose et je l'ai trouvé le lendemain lors d'un cours de 3h que j'avais réservé sur la rive asiatique où j'ai pu emporter mes papiers à la sortie du cours. Du coup je vais continuer chez moi à présent.
Sachez qu'ici qu'il vous faudra revenir pour venir chercher vos oeuvres sèches un autre jour.

We decided to try a different experience - a Turkish form of painting which involved scattering insoluble paint over water and after creating various beautiful patterns; this was then "magically" transferred on to a sheet of paper!! It was a really wonderful time for the entire family and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the art class. Also a special thank you to Alp who arranged the entire experience for us - THANK YOU!

A couple friends and I took a very enjoyable ebru class with Fikret Bey; was definitely a highlight of our time in Turkey. Fikret and Alp were very friendly and welcoming. The ox gall that’s mixed with the paint definitely smells so be ready for that. The studio is a cozy, bright space a few floors up, though the staircase to get there is a bit narrow so not wheelchair/stroller accessible. Also know that there won’t necessarily be other people taking the class with you. Would definitely go again.
سجلنا أنا وربعي صف إبرو مع الأستاذ فكرت وكانت تجربة جيدة جدا الحمد لله. فيه شيء يُستخدم مع الصبغ من مشتقات الأبقار ريحته خايسة للعلم فقط والإفادة. الاستوديو نفسه كان حلو وشرح بس الدرج اللي لازم تصعده ضيق وشوي ظلام فما تقدر تدخل عربانة أو شيء. وللعلم مهب شرط يكونون معاكم ناس ثانيين، أحنا لما رحنا كان بس أحنا واللي بعدنا كانوا بس هم. في الختام استمتعنا .وحاطين في بالنا نسجل مرة ثانية في المستقبل بإذن الله

This was without a doubt the highlight of my trip to Istanbul. Being able to have a hands-on learning experience with such a talented and patient instructor far exceeded my expectations. It is so unique, unlike any other travel class/experience I have had before. I took the Ebru class and had such a great time that I came back for the tile painting class. In both instances, it was so relaxing and very fulfilling to learn these techniques and actually create something that was useable even as a beginner. Betul and Ali are excellent hosts and create an atmosphere that is low key and fun. The studio is wonderful with lots of sunlight and great views. I wish I was able to study with Betul on a regular basis. I was so inspired that I plan to continue painting when I return home. I highly recommend taking a class while in Istanbul.

Expérience intéressante cette initiation à l'ebru. Un cours de deux heures intense.
Envie de continuer à la maison seule mais...ça ne semble pas si évident quand on se retrouve avec les produits et les pinceaux !

I did a whole week of ebru lessons with Bahar (12 hours in total). The time just flew by and I so enjoyed both the lessons and working with Bahar: she is a warm, knowledgeable, fun teacher. Both Bahar and Alp were very accommodating with some last minute scheduling changes (instead of 2 hours a day they kindly allowed me to do 4 hours a day for 2 days so I could spend extra time with friends). I learned a lot and was thrilled with the tulips and chrysanthemums I ended up creating with Bahar’s help. While in the studio I also noticed a number of other workshops that I would love to do: felting, and photography ones too. I would love to come back and work with Bahar some more. Even if you just do a 2-3 hour workshop you will get to go home with some beautiful marbled paper.

Being a tourist in Instanbul, I was looking for a place to buy some Ebru art paintings. Luckily, I could get in touch with Mr. Alp Aksahin who introduced me to this Ebru workshop.
It was an amazing experience to learn this magical art from the wonderful artist - Bahar😊. Both Aksahin and Bahar are friendly people and I totally enjoyed the workshop.

Thanks for your kind question. During the art lesson, you will make app. 10-15 art works on your own. Our teacher will show you the techniques and you will try it on your own. When do you want to take a lesson ?

Hi Any suggestions on how to protect your Ebru marbeling paintings while travelling by plane with them. How big is the finished product and how many can one reasonably expect to finish in a two hour lesson? Thanks for your response.

Hi.. We can put them in a card box and it is protected.. in 2 hours, you can make app. 10-15 Pieces of Ebru art.. When will you come to take a lesson ?
