Il castello del colonnello.
jun. 2018

Interesting Museum

This was a large museum that we visited in 2010 while Quadaffi was still in power. A large section was devoted to him and included his famous blue Volkswagon. I don't know what is there now. But there were other exhibits of fascinating stone carvings and ancient Libyan culture and quite a few Greek and Roman scultpures that were nicely displayed.

Open once again & worth a visit!

I had the opportunity to go to the National Museum in Tripoli yesterday, and it is well worth a visit! I was surprised with how nice it is and how well kept up it is! It is a large museum with 3 floors open for viewing. Apparently the 4th floor used to be all about Gaddafi, but those items have all been removed. The two cars that were also on the bottom floor are not longer there…and the banners that were green are now purple in color. The entrance fee is 6 LYD per person, and as I said, it would be well worth your time to visit. There are lockers with keys upon entrance and there is also security in place. Many of the large statues and mosaics from the historical sites are located there. I would highly recommend a visit there if you're in Tripoli!
