Phil from Moore River Boat / Adventure Tours left us in the lerch. After confirming the booking, messaging and calling, he left us stranded at the Guilderton foreshore with a one year old. So unprofessional. Do not book!

Our friends brought us here on a day trip and it was fantastic. What a great place for creating family beach memories of camping and playing in the water. Staircases to great views, walking trail along the inlet. Excellent clean clear water. Parking now has a fee.

Don’t go here. It’s not worth it. You’ll have a better time 10 minutes up the road at Seabird.

For context - parking in Perth is free on Sundays.

We visited on a quiet Sunday for Father’s Day with our small dog. $2hr parking is very welcoming, as is the local ranger who seemed to be very close with the local police and was placing parking tickets on any car within minutes if they didn’t pay.

Beware this place is run like a Gustapo regime and you will regret coming here after being greeted by a very bad council ranger - after paying for parking he decided to explain that dogs weren’t allowed in the area- even in the vehicle (the only place in town with any facilities). After a request for a refund on the parking ticket, he continued to shoo away others who also inadvertently decided to have a day out in this town to prop up the local economy.

After driving at least three families with dogs away from the town - the ranger then proceeded to have a smoke and chat to the local police.

Only use this place to give your car a clean out using the bins provided, as you may get some satisfaction from getting your money’s worth out of using the facilities.

Revisited after many years but will bypass in future. If you decide to go, pay for parking ($2) for one hour, $10 whole day), bring your own beach tent (no trees for shade along the foreshore) bring own food (general store is closed for renovations)

To visit the the Moore River near the estuary we decided to start from the southern side where there are the Guilderton Sand Dunes. We followed Barragoon Rd, a paved road that ends on the bank of the Moore River right next to Caraban Canoes. There is a parking area here and canoes can be put into the river, but not boats because the riverbed is too shallow. While the side towards Caraban Canoes is fenced off, on the other side we saw a path that proceeded along the side of the river. After a few meters, however, shortly after the end of an old broken fence there was a sign of private property as the path continued on the edge of the river. We then went back also because hundreds of flies were literally on us. After taking photos of the many short-billed black cockatoo and little corella present near the river, we took the car back to continue along the unsealed Goonmarra Rd. However, at the beginning of the road, we saw a sign of private property. Failed our attempt to approach the mouth of the river from the south side we headed to Guilderton. Following Moore River Dr and then Stephens Cres we arrived at Silver Creek parking. From this large parking area, where there are toilettes, picnic tables and ramps for canoes, you can access the river bank. Walking on the river bank we arrived in front of the sand dunes on the other bank of the river. In addition to the dunes, we were able to photograph several birds present in the river such as pelicans, cormorants and ducks. Taking the car back, after a few pictures from Whitfield St, we arrived at the mouth of the river in Guilderton where there is a large paid car park with access to the beach and ramp for boats. Being interested in seeing the estuary, we preferred to continue along Gordon St to arrive at the Moore Estuary lookout. Here there is large free car parking, a lookout tower and wooden steps to reach the beach area below. The view of the river from the tower is amazing. You can see a strip of white sand that separates the dark reddish blue waters of the river from the crystalline blue of the sea. The sandbar blocks the exchange of water, preventing the salty waters of the sea from rising up the river with the tide. The formation of brackish water would completely modify the life of the river by destroying the nutrients present in the fresh water and carried there by the river current. Of course, the sand also prevents the river water from discharging into the sea. During our visit the river was full of water and the fresh water level much higher than that of the sea reaching the top of the sandbar. As a result, a trickle of fresh water ran down the sand to the ocean waters. In this stretch of beach it is absolutely forbidden to dig holes as well as bring dogs, but proceeding on the long beach that extends north there are areas of beach for dogs including the one in North Groyne where the car parking is practically on the beach. The Moore River estuary is truly beautiful and interesting.

Found an amazing farmstay spot right on the riverside to camp out with my family of 7. We were fortunate enough to be able to use the kayaks here during our stay too. Kids enjoyed fishing and hanging out in the water all day long. We stayed in an onsite camper trailer which made things super easy for us to just show up and start enjoying our break. Highly recommend you get in touch with Stan from Carraban Canoes. He's the man!

What a beautiful place to visit. Caravan park right on the water, toilets and a general store. Great for paddle boarding or just lazing about on a lilo.

A nice scenic spot for a picnic lunch and a swim. Just came for the afternoon and the area was well kept with plenty of benches and seating areas, plus the BBQ facilities were spotless.
The river itself is lovely and there was canoes, paddle boards and boats to hire which is such a great idea. The track and lookout was a nice little walk to see such a spectacular view of both the ocean and the river.
Will definitely be coming back for a longer stay next time - possibly in the caravan park

Moore River Estuary is a small picturesque town. The view was amazing and the atmosphere was superb. Beautiful place with combination of ocean and river view - the river is blue and red before it flows into the Indian Ocean.

We would have walked through the sand bar to another island if it was low tide. The sand bar is at the mouth of Moore River separating it from the Indian Ocean on high tide.

There are plenty of activities which we can do at the riverfront to make the most out of our visit. From boating or canoeing up river, swimming, sun baking, fishing, paddling, kayaking, and building sand castles, there's always something for everyone to enjoy. Children can run or sand board down the dunes into the river. Lovely place to just unwind with family.
