When my wife and I visited Bruges, we had a wonderful local tour guide who passed along some great advice. He told us to think small. Bruges has an abundance of small restaurants which strive to have excellent food and a great ambiance. Many of the restaurants are a family business with a husband & wife sharing the cooking and the serving. They have to try harder to compete. Look for "Flemish Traditional Cuisine" as a sign of good food.

Another night, we had dinner in the main square in one of the many small places with great food. Once we started speaking English, we got to talk with many of the folks in the restaurant. A very multilingual group. We met a young college student from Chine who was a great fan of the NBA. Everyone help us to order. great meal.

Another thing to do is to have a waffle in Bruges. My favorite is Lizzies. Great waffles (large with great taste. Order a chocolate milk. It is fun !

A very nice place.

Long day but very good. Went with Bestcoachtours. Gary did well with the time table for the Euro Tunnel. Parked in the coach park and walked though the park and though the chocolate shops to the Christmas market. Bought some lovely but very expensive cheese. I would like to say if you see anything you like get it as it's hard to find again later. Sweets are to die for so tasty.

Bigger in size and tourism than Ghent the first animal I saw were swans, ducks and horses.

We had lunch in Vivaldi and tried Alberts waffle. We were looking forward to Basilica Blood of Christ who happens to house the Blood of Christ when he was cleaned by Joseph of Arimathea which found its way here.

We also took a canal tour nothing like the one in Amsterdam or Copenhagen this is a big canal and it looks like the water has been there for over a century and once a year I forgot if that was new year they jump in this water as part of tradition.

It's a beautiful town to visit when you're in Belgium and it's close to Brussels look it up and bring home chocolates on your way back.

I went with Sandemans New Brussels. James was easily the best tour guide I have had in my month and a half of travelling Europe. Amazing knowledge, stories and banter, and went above and beyond for our group! Can't recommend him and the tour enough

Just back from a 3 day mini cruise, my first ever. Our pick up point was Buchanan St Bus station in Glasgow. Other pick up points were, Hamilton, Gretna Green, and Darlington. Our bus was from MacPhails and our driver Alan who couldn't have been better. All of the places mentioned you can stop for tea, smoke break, toilet. We also stopped at Wetherby. Breaks were from 15 minutes to an hour. Our party went for tobacco and cigarettes. Our driver asked us If we wanted to go to the P and J, Chocolate Factory, we said yes because that is were you get the cigarettes and tobacco, some alcohol etc. You can buy as much as you like. FIRST TIP: Take your clothes in a small bag onto the Ferry on arriving in Hull, and leave your case on the bus and you can fill up with cigs, tobacco, etc when you get to P and J's you can fill your case, put it back on the bus and you won't have to cart it around Bruges with you. SECOND TIP: If you like your food, you have lots of great choices on board the ferry. We paid £61, for 2 main buffet meals, and 2 breakfasts. You can go back for as many as you like, and drink as much juice, coffee/tea as you like while you are eating. They had rice, curries, chips, sausages (fantastic), fruit, cereal, milk, etc, etc, followed by cakes, that would cost you a fortune n the local shops in the U. K. We wet onto the ferry at 5 p.m. settled in and went for dinner (you get vouchers) at 6 pm. Breakfast is really between 6 a.m. and 8ish. If you smoke, you can smoke ALL YOU want on the deck outside. It can get a bit chilly on the ocean so take a warm sweater with you and perhaps a thin rain jacket. The rooms are small, toilet small, which has toilet paper, shower, next to toilet, very awkward to get into, but it works.Beds have no sheets, and it can get warm, sticky at night. If you look up at the celiing in the rooms on Pride of Bruges, you will see a red and blue line. Stand on the bed and turn the dial towards blue line (clockwise) and it will let in air through the night. It felt good. We took an anti sickness pill 30 minutes before our ferry voyage started, it worked. There are lots to choose from I used Kweesy. Our drop off point was, the Coach Park, that is were the tours start if you are on a Tour. There are some bences there, a waffle cabin, tea, coffee, juice and there is a Toilet, you pay 50 cents to use. They are spotless. Coming home again, we used the "toilets" at Scotch Corner. Ok to usee if you want a pee but bring a bottle of Domestos if you want a sit down. THIRD TIP: Enjoy yourselves. The crew on board were maily Filipinos and they deserve EVERY CENT they earn. So polite and ALWAYS SMILING. remember they rely on tips. If you can leave a few Euros in an envelope in the room when you leave, that would be great.

Bruges is a beautiful world heritage site. A must go to day trip when in Brussels.
Our guide Charlotte from Getyourguide was amazing. Full of historical knowledge, architectural insights & knows many interesting legends of the place. She makes the trip interesting & pleasant.

You need patience and a lot of motivation to make it to Bruges from Zeebrugge but it was worth it. We took a coach, a train, and a taxi. Once in the old town centre it is very pretty and walkable, take comfortable shoes for the cobble stoned streets. The only downside was having to return to the awful cruise that got us there. The ship needs a refurb. Given the amount of elderly passengers you would have thought that P&O could figure out the need to fit better and faster lifts. They need to allocate more poolside staff to clean and tidy, and the pool...I dread to think what was in that water at the end of each day. For our next cruise we are going to save our pennies and book Royal Caribbean, P&O was cheap and it showed.
