If you imagine the main entrance gates as due south (not quite true), ahead of you is a layout plan. The adjacent Belgian & CWGC sub-sections are four minutes walk to the north west (head left- west, then veer north west. There are discreet CWGC signs at calf height.to guide visitors.

There is space to park freely about four coaches on a part gravel, part earth curved triangle of ground in front of the brick wall to the right of the entrance gates and very close to the recycle bins. There are also some spaces off road on the other side. On that front wall, just to the right of the entrance, is a plaque in black marble in honour of 241 Heroes of the Resistance (of the clandestine press) 1940-1945.

Surprisingly few visitors seem to visit, by the lack of entries in the CWGC Visitors Book. In addition to the civilian graves, see:
- The 507 British, Empire, French, Russian, Romanian and German graves in the CWGC section. Some of them died in 1917, presumably as POWs or possibly as forced labour: others of the Spanish Influenza of late 1918/ early 1919.
- The Belgian Military Section, which includes some of those who survived WW1 or WW2, but who chose to be buried with their comrades, plus a couple who- after the liberation of the city in 1944 volunteered to join the US Army under General George C Patton. (I assume that they were Belgian soldiers who could not escape to the UK in 1940, via Dunkirk, and who were forced to surrender to, and be disarmed by, the Germans.)
Next to the British section is a small memorial garden, which includes the tomb of Charles Simonet. He was a resident of Mons who performed intelligence work for the British. Captured by the Germans in 1915, he was executed by firing squad on 6 November, having refused to divulge his secrets. When his body was dis-interred in Brussels after WW1 for reburial in Mons, they discovered that that the Germans had buried him with his arms still shackled behind his back. See also the statue of King Albert 1 of the Belgians.
